Tessalogger

Mobile app for operating Momega wearables.

Tessalogger is the app that runs a recording. It pairs the sensors to the positions they sit in, starts and stops the session, keeps the sensors in step with each other, and hands the finished recording over for analysis. It is the only piece of software needed to perform a recording: there is nothing to configure on the sensors themselves, and no laptop involved.

Pairing is done by position rather than by device. You choose the position in the app — a limb for MAIJU, the waist for NAPPA — and hold the sensor near the phone until it appears, checking that the number the app shows matches the number printed on the sensor. The app then knows which physical unit is on which limb, which is what the analyses depend on.

In use

Before starting

The app lists every paired sensor with its battery level. The sensors run on replaceable CR2025 coin cells; start a session above 80%.

Recording

Enter the participant identifier, check that all sensors show as connected, and press record. Avoid pausing — start a new recording instead, because pausing can break the synchronisation between sensors.

Streaming or logging

With Movesense MD and HR2 the sensors stream to the phone, which has to stay within about ten metres — in practice the same room. With Movesense Flash, and with NAPPA on any sensor, the data is written to the sensor's own memory and the phone can be put away until the recording is collected.

After stopping

Logged recordings are downloaded from the sensors over Bluetooth. The recording is then uploaded to Tessacloud, which is what produces the analytics; the raw data stays on your own device as well.

We currently distribute only the Android version via a package install (.pkg) file, for which a download link is delivered to customers after a garment purchase.

Compatible garments

Tessalogger operates every Momega garment: MAIJU with four sensors, one per limb, and NAPPA with one at the waist. It works with all three sensor models, with the difference in how the data is captured described above. Step-by-step instructions for a full session are on the instructions page.
